Dear Diary,
We're having a hard time since Erniqua is at our stud. Don't understand me wrong, she's a great horse and every day she gets along with other horses better and better. But she needs much time and training her for jumping is more difficult than we thought. She doesn't like it, if many people stand around or if there's much noise. So we try to learn her every day and she is really becoming better, but in the end she is taking a lot of time, time we need for other things, too. I really love that mare, that crazy stupid mare.
Andrew knows me pretty well, so he organized a little party outside the city for me. I just don't now what I'd do without him. He's so gorgeous! He invited a lot of old friends of mine and some family members. Even my mother and my sister where there! Ohh, I've missed them really. We talked about so many things. I was saying something about the wild horses, when my phone rang. It was Kelly, the wife of an equestrian center owner in Wolfsmere. I used to live there a time ago. She was talking really fast and seemd concerned, it was about a foal or exactly the dam. I tried to calm her down, but she couldn't stop screaming. She begged us to come over and help her than she hung up. Immediatly I looked for Andy and after I found him, I told him what happend. He suggested to look for her, I agreed. I felt a bit guilty, because Andrew had planned such a nice little party and I kind of destroyed it. Not just for me, for him, too.
So we drove there as soon as possible. It took us only 3 hours to get there. Kelly Oswold was already waiting, she told us her husband would be in Riverview, a city 16 hours from here and she couldn't reach him on his mobile. So she called us to help her. But the story she told us then, seemd so unreal and horrbile I just couldn't believe it. Her Appaloosa mare SWE Delicious had had a accident with a truck. Kelly didn't know how the mare left the pasture, but apparently she could. The trucker was looking for the owner, when he hit the horse. The mare was laying on the ground and was already unconscious. Kelly heard the accident from inside the kitchen while making pancakes, so she ran outside to look what happend. She called the vet and cried a lot. They had to put that poor horse down, but she had a foal and Kelly was so desperate, she didn't know what to do. She rememberd me raising a foal and called me.
And after telling the story she suggested I should raise the foal, because her husband wouldn't be home for three months and for her it'd be too difficult. First I didn't know what to say, but after discussing the options with Andy I smiled to her and said 'yes'! So now we're taking care of a cute colt.
I don't know how it'll be and I'm super nervous.
